Hello art lover…

My time and attention to nature has been abundant this last month. Time in the mountains, time caring for the garden, and time in my very own neighbourhood. We had so many beautiful rain showers in June making the earth green and lush and full of wildflowers. The fawns are gaining more independence, wandering further away from their mother's care. I truly love this time of year. The season of attention and care which blossoms into abundant summer fruition.

Life is such a strange, wild, glorious thing filled with experiences that can strengthen us, break us, and provide us with the most profound joy. People all around the world are simultaneously experiencing the best days of their lives and the absolute worst and somehow we're exposed to all of it. To the real, raw humanity of the world.

It can sometimes feel heartless and frivolous to share the beauty here, but I believe beauty needs to be felt, shared, and celebrated. To provide some ease and reprieve from the times that shatter us, when the world feel especially heavy. It is always my goal to share the peace, beauty, and joy of the world. That is what my art is made of.

"A beautiful life is not stumbled upon, it is built. It is chosen. It is nurtured over the years. A beautiful life is made from the heart, not the head. It is not one we can rationalize our way into, it's one that must be felt. A beautiful life is not one that is immediately comfortable, but one grown through the acknowledgement of what is worth being uncomfortable for. It is not one that is easy, it is one that is worth it.

A beautiful like is composed of the things our 90-year-old selves would have wished we'd done with the years in which we were so young but didn't realize, before the decades piled up and passed us by and we came to find how little time even the luckiest among us have."

Market Season

The summer market season has officially begun! You can find me in Banff almost every Wednesday (excluding July 23rd) this month from 10am to 6pm.

I've recruited the help of my 9 year old son now that my 16 year old boys have full-time jobs and have found more independence. This means that set-up and take down takes much more time, but it's a joy to spend more quality time with my son and show him exactly what his mom does for a living. He loves to chat with the other vendors, finds the most delicious food, and plays on the playground when things get really boring.

It's always so wonderful to be able to connect in person with those of you who find comfort and peace in my art. I love to see your faces and hear your stories and feel your contagious joy for nature and art.

Wild Pacific Collection

I'm still working away in the studio on the Wild Pacific Collection inspired by Tofino, BC. I have yet to set a release date because I'm finding that virtually everything I do always takes more time than I anticipate, especially now that my kids are home from school. Part of me would really like to release this collection on my birthday, the 24th of July, but I'm not sure if I can manage that, or if I want to rush things. Naturally, you'll be the first to hear about all of my plans.

Postcard Club

I've been filled with excitement, dreaming up the creation of a postcard club. My plan is to create a postcard for you each month, a print that isn't available anywhere else. I'll write a personal note to you about the place that inspired the artwork, or studio events etc… and I'll pop it in an envelope with a stamp to ship by regular ol' snail mail for you to collect each month.

I want this to feel like we're real life pen pals in the 90's. You'll get a letter from me in the mail with something beautiful that you can hang on your fridge, slip in a book, or frame, and you can even feel free to write me back. (I'd love that!)

Along with each postcard I'll include a QR code that will link to a correlating blog post. The blog post will include a personal travel guide created by me of all of my favourite things to do, places to shop, see, eat, and experience in each month's location. I've already made lists of my favourite places like Banff, Waterton, Encintas, Tofino, Glacier NP, and Joshua Tree.

I'm looking forward to the connection this will offer us in the real world offline and I hope you're excited to subscribe. Please let me know if you're just as excited as I am by responding to this email so I can gauge interest. I'll be sure to keep you posted (pun intended) as this evolves.

July's New Featured Original:

“Awestruck by Alpenglow”

Surprise! A freshly framed original watercolour painting for you inspired by a vibrant sunset at Emerald Lake.

Venturing out into the mountains brings a sense of nostalgic energy. Of childhood summers long past, the scent of fresh evergreens and campfires. The shock of feeling alive as you jump into an ice cold glacier lake, gasping for breath. Memories so sweet you’d like to bottle them up. And the feeling of awe as you watch a long, vibrant summer sunset bask mountain peaks in a rainbow of colour.

Sweet, blissful peace that can only be found in nature. These are the feelings I wish to share with you and your sacred spaces.

This painting was created to reflect the blissful peace felt tucked away in the awe inspiring Rocky Mountains.

"Emerald Lake Sunset"

I've also created my latest accompanying watercolour art print inspired by Emerald Lake. Transport yourself to the heart of Yoho National Park with this fine art print of Emerald Lake, one of the most breathtaking and serene destinations in the Canadian Rockies. This piece captures the vibrance of a mountain sunset reflected in the invigorating chill of glacial waters and alpine’s fresh air filled with the scent of pine trees and campfires. A moment of nature’s magic frozen in time.

July's Featured TV Art:

"Black's Beach Lookout"

Black’s Beach Lookout captures the meditative stillness of an early morning walk along the coast of San Diego, California. Fog rolls in from the ocean, softening the jagged cliffs and quieting the world around you as you watch paragliders float gently off the coastal cliffside. The cool breeze, rhythmic waves, and bright wildflowers offer a sense of peace that only the softness of a foggy seascape can bring.

Adding art to your Frame TV is the simplest way to update the look and feel of your home.
