August Studio Newsletter
Alberta Canola Field
Hello art lover…
I'm not quite sure how July is already over, but it was a very full and fruitful month. My time in the studio was mostly spent printing for wholesale orders including the addition of a new shop in Emerald Lake! My time and attention was turned to the Banff market each week which was often an adventure in itself. The weather this month has been so unpredictable, and very rainy. I personally love a good walk in the rain and will gladly accept this weather to a smoky season of forest fires.
I also enjoyed celebrating my birthday almost all week long with my dear friends and family. I never really connected with my identity as a Leo, but I will say, I do enjoy celebrating my birthday, I always have, even during my brief stint in high school when I convinced myself I hated it. I'm not one of those people who collects a lot of friends, I never have been. I don't particularly enjoy superficial relationships or small talk, but the few friends I have sure do treat me well.
I'm so grateful for your support during my annual birthday sale. July is always such a busy month despite the fact that my children are home from school and there really is no actual schedule. Can someone please tell my brain that, as it continues to wake me up every morning sometime around 7am.
"Maybe our world will grow kinder eventually.
Maybe the desire to make something beautiful
is the piece of God that is inside each of us."
- Mary Oliver
I have felt this so deeply in my life. The act of creating is the thing that keeps me tethered to my own maker.

Market Season
It was such a gift to spend time in Banff each week in July, but my summer market season is coming to an end. Surely it must be a good thing because although my youngest son enjoyed his time at the market, he also robbed me blind, taking money from the cash box every time he wanted to try a new exciting treat. This Wednesday, August 6th will be my last market in Banff and then I will be off to spend time with family, explore the city of Chicago with my children, and soak up the most beautiful inspiration in Southern California.
The summer markets are always full of so much energetic beauty, unpredictable weather, and connection. It's truly wonderful to meet so many new people and connect in person with those of you who find comfort and peace in my work. I love to see your faces and hear your stories and feel your contagious joy for nature and art.
Out of Studio
I'll be packing up my studio this month and taking it on the road, where I hope to find some new inspiration and spend plenty of time in the rest of uninterrupted summer creation. Who knows, maybe I'll do a little plein air painting along the beach.
Please note that any orders placed after August 7th will ship after August 23rd. I would love to send you something this week before I leave. I appreciate your kind support that allows me to continue to support my family even while I'm away.
Wild Pacific Collection
I will also continue my work on the Wild Pacific Collection inspired by Tofino while I'm away. I feel like I keep putting this collection off, but I want to be sure to give it my full attention. Let's hope for a September collection release. Naturally, my email newsletter will be the first to hear about all of my plans.
August's Featured Original:
“Foggy Morning Walks”
As I will be returning soon to the Southern California coast, I thought I'd pay homage to this little watercolor painting I created last year.
There’s a daily ebb and flow in the way the fog rolls in and off the Southern California coastline. I love to walk in the gloom of morning fog and embrace the way it softens the landscape, while also celebrating the warmth of the bright evening sunshine and the beauty it casts on everything. Soaking the earth in a golden glow just before the sun dips below the ocean horizon.
This little painting feels almost like a journal entry, capturing a specific time and place, and the memory of being with the one's you love most.
August's Featured Print:
"Moraine Lake"
Between the Banff Market, and wholesale orders, this print has been the best seller of July
Inspired by the turquoise glacier waters, rugged mountain peaks, and peaceful alpine air of Banff National Park, this watercolour print captures the awe and serenity of one of Canada’s most iconic landscapes.
From the scent of pine to the thrill of a glacial plunge, this piece evokes memories of forest hikes, campfires, and the quiet stillness found only in nature.
August's Featured TV Art:
"Maligne Lake"
Experience the tranquil beauty of Alberta’s wilderness with Maligne Lake, a fine art watercolour print inspired by the peaceful serenity of Jasper National Park. This piece reflects the blissful stillness and awe felt while tucked into the breathtaking scenery of Canada’s Rocky Mountains.
Adding art to your Frame TV is the simplest way to update the look and feel of your home.
I hope you're enjoying summer's blissful rest. Thank you for your endless support that allows me the freedom to explore and create in abundance. I hope you know just how much I appreciate you.
