La Jolla Cove Print in 60×40”

This March has felt like a bit of an energetic funk for me personally. It could be the fact that the weather really never knows what it's doing this time of year, but I think the recipe I'm craving is more time in nature.

I stumbled on this quote yesterday which is something I think we all need:

"Movement is medicine for the body.

Nature is medicine for the mind.

Art is medicine for the soul."

I spent a lot of time procrastinating a fairly difficult commissioned watercolour painting last month, which meant spending a lot of time behind the scenes on the less glamorous side of a creative business. I managed to get my finances and taxes in order, reorganized the homepage on my website, and restocked a couple wholesale vendors, all to avoid a particularly difficult painting. (aka: the part of my work I'm supposed to love.) In case you're wondering, I managed to finish both the commission sketch and watercolour painting this month, so I'm actually quite proud of myself for stretching my abilities!

I'm always so grateful when I get to recreate your most special memories. Please feel free to reach out to me if there's a custom piece you've been dying for me to create.

This month I'm returning to a collection I began last year inspired by Tofino and all the beauty of Canada's rugged West Coast. I've been putting this collection aside as my focus has been redirected onto other projects for over a year, but now is the time to get back to the slow process of creation. I'm excited to immerse myself in painting beautiful beaches, rocky shores, and wind swept trees.

April’s Featured Original

“Memories of Summer”

My children and I have spent so much time at Waterton Lake National Park in July for either my birthday, or in August for my two oldest boys' birthday. We love to dip in the glacier lake, explore Red Rock Canyon, and eat outside on the patio. The sweetest memories are spent in the most beautiful places in summertime. I love an excuse to spend time in the beauty of the mountains.

What began as a small sketch, that I promised myself would never be sold, became a beautiful framed original. Like a vintage postcard sent from time spent tucked in the Canadian Rockies, this gouache painting holds a sense of nostalgia that can only be found in the peace of the mountains.

“Tamarack Beach Lookout”

Carlsbad offers the perfect escape to the beach on a beautiful sunny day. The laughter of children playing in the sand, a cool dip in the Pacific Ocean, and memories that last a lifetime. This print of Tamarack Beach Lookout is a simple reminder of a beautiful time spend with the ones you love most at the beach during the lush, green winter months.

“Sunday Beach Stroll”

There's nothing better than a stroll along the beach, shoes in hand, with the people you love most. The sound of the waves crashing on the seashore, soaking in the beauty of nature on a relaxing Sunday afternoon.

Adding art to your Frame TV is the simplest way to update the look and feel of your home.

Art has a way of capturing a place in time, transporting you to a specific location, offering reverence to nature's beauty, and bringing nature's abundant peace and calm into your personal sanctuary.
