2025: Year in the Studio

My kids are officially back to school which means I am officially back to work after a much needed break. I think it's important to look back on the last year and celebrate all of my accomplishments and appreciate the work that I created.

The Year to THRIVE

You might remember at the beginning of the year when I declared 2025 to be the year to THRIVE. The need to introduce ease and transparency into my creative work, changing the way I offered my art. I also wanted to elevate my work and give it the attention it deserves. I haven’t decided if I accomplished all of my goals, I think I may have burned out half way through the year, but I continued to move forward despite multiple challenges that were out of my hands.

Mountain Sketches

I started the year off by releasing my first collection of 7 gouache Mountain Sketches inspired by the landscapes of Alberta Rocky Mountains. These painting hold a real sense of nostalgia and were mostly sold at in-person markets in Banff National Park.

Commissions

I created a number of meaningful commissions in 2025 of special memories spent with loved ones in beautiful places. It’s always such an honour to collaborate on a beautiful work of art of your most precious moments. If you’re interested in a commissioned painting, I have recently updated my website with a limited number of spaces available for 2026.

TV Art

In March I release a collection of 21 digital TV Art Files. This is such a simple way to add art into your home if you have a Smart TV. I had so much fun creating these, and may add more files this year (wink). If you’d like to add one to your living space, click HERE.

Original Watercolor Paintings

I created and released a few watercolor landscape paintings outside of regular collections, like this one during my annual visit to Southern California. I also created a mountain sunset painting of Emerald Lake. I enjoy the freedom to share work on its own when it doesn’t fit in a traditional collection, when I can paint something as quickly as inspiration strikes.

Art Markets

I participated in more markets this year than I ever have in years past. I had a goal to be more involved in the local community, and was grateful for your support. I shared my work (including originals) with more people in person at both summer and winter markets. It required a lot of energy, but it’s always worth it to see you connect with my art.

Wild Pacific Collection

In October I released a collection of coastal watercolor landscape paintings inspired by Canada’s rugged West Coast in Tofino.

These were some of the largest watercolor paintings I have ever created and I loved the gestural brushstrokes painted in this scale of work. Each of these hold such a peaceful feeling.

Winter Collection

For this year’s holiday offerings I created a winter collection of gouache landscape paintings inspired by the most famous places in the Canadian Rockies. I also created a small collection of hand painted ceramic ornaments and I painted custom ornaments for the people you love. Your support over the holiday season is so heartwarming to me and my family, especially during the hustle and bustle of Christmas.

2025 was the year to THRIVE and although I’m not sure I'm able to declare that I was successful at thriving, I did manage to keep working. To continue doing what I love. What you don't see are the stacks of paintings that were scrapped because they didn't feel quite right, the self doubt that comes with building a small business, the many tears, and the endless hours problem solving. But there were also hours spent soaking in the beauty of nature's inspiration and creating beautiful work that I'm deeply proud of. You see, despite all of the struggle and heartache, there truly is NOTHING else I would rather be doing to support my family.

Going forward in 2026, I have felt the need to savour a little more. To sit in gratitude and appreciate this life and these gifts I've been given. I would imagine 2026 will probably look much like 2025, just with a little more heartfelt JOY!

None of this progress would be possible without you and your support! I can't tell you how grateful I am that you choose to be here to share in my creative journey and the work made by these two hands. This space feels so special to me.

Thank you for being here. Thank you for loving the work I create. Thank you for every single purchase and encouragement. It honestly makes such a difference to me and my family!

WISHING YOU ALL THE BEST THIS NEW YEAR!

xo, Rebecca
