Violets | Original Gouache Floral Painting
I love the feeling of walking through a meadow of grasses and wildflowers. As a child, I would wander through my grandmother’s fields and pick bouquets of wildflowers for my own mom.
Violets are one of my favourites, and especially remind me of meadows nestled among the Rocky Mountains of Alberta.
With such vibrant beauty, I love to celebrate this beautiful, bright, bold wildflower.
This painting first began with a sketch, a transparent layer of watercolour, layers upon layers of gouache to get the colours just right, and then an ink sketch to complete the painting.
